About

Training, Appointments & Scholarship

Dr. Chen is a prosthodontist board-certified in both the United States and Taiwan. He completed dental school, two years of post-graduate general dentistry (PGY) training — including a rotation in oral and maxillofacial surgery — and prosthodontic residency training in Taiwan, then practiced general dentistry before moving to the United States. At Tufts University School of Dental Medicine he completed prosthodontic residency training, an MSc and a DMD, and became a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics. His specialty training encompassed the diagnosis, planning, and surgical placement of dental implants, so his clinical work can run from implant surgery through to the definitive prosthesis and full-mouth reconstruction. He is an Associate Professor at Tufts and sees patients at two Boston-area offices in English and Mandarin. His research on digital implant workflows, 3D printing, and artificial intelligence in dentistry has been cited over 1,580 times, and he serves as a peer reviewer for journals including the Journal of Prosthodontics, Clinical Oral Implants Research, Clinical Oral Investigations, the Journal of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry, and npj Digital Medicine.
